    Wayne Farms LLC of Decatur, AL, has expanded its nationwide recall of ready-to-eat chicken breast fillets because they may be undercooked, which can result in the growth of foodborne pathogens. A food testing lab is currently testing chicken dated under the recall for Salmonella Enterica and other bacterial pathogens.

  • Little information available on foodborne pathogen outbreak among Coachella festival bus drivers

    Public health officials continue to investigate what appears to have been an outbreak of foodborne pathogen caused illnesses among bus drivers shuttling the public during the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in California. A bacterial pathogen like Salmonella Enterica, Staphylococcus aureus, or E. coli is suspected.

  • FDA suspects bacterial pathogens as complaints of illnesses after eating Lucky Charms top 550

    More people have been added to the patient list in an outbreak of “adverse events” linked to Lucky Charms, according to the FDA. The FDA has begun on-site inspections, sample collection, and foodborne pathogens testing, but it has not reported what location is involved.

  • Salmonella Outbreak Caused By Chocolate Factory

    A chocolate factory owned by Italian food giant Ferrero has been linked to over 100 cases of salmonella spp. The company announced it would withdraw some Kinder Surprise chocolate egg products after regulators sought a recall. Regular foodborne pathogen testing is an efficient preventative measure to avoid costly salmonella recalls.

  • Federal court orders company to stop distribution of pet food contaminated with Salmonella

    A federal court Monday ordered a Carneys Point, NJ, company to stop distributing adulterated pet food that is in violation of federal law. Salmonella, a pathogenic microorganism, can cause the illness known as salmonellosis in both humans and animals.

  • Washington State Seafood Processor Accused of Selling Adulterated Fish Products

    The United States has filed a complaint to stop a seafood processor in Monroe, WA, from processing and selling adulterated seafood products, the Justice Department announced. The complaint alleges that FDA inspectors took multiple samples at the facility and confirmed the presence of Listeria monocytogenes in and around food preparation areas.

  • Supplier Recalls 1600 Pounds of Jerky for Listeria

    Boyd Specialties, LLC, a Colton, CA establishment, is recalling approximately 1,634 pounds of ready-to-eat (RTE) jerky products that may be adulterated with Listeria monocytogenes. These items were shipped to retail locations in Alabama, California, Connecticut, Michigan, New Jersey, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Texas.
